Double rifle bag for transporting to the range.

Wondering if anyone could suggest a sturdy double rifle bag or case, to range, round trip - bumpy at times.

Though I am not a big fan of cammo, rather something just black or khaki, anyway, not a big deal, as long as it's over 120cm.

Any tips or suggestions/links/etc?

It's 107cm though is the only thing... How much spare room did you have in that 120cm?

Otherwise give them a call and see if they do a longer one

Assuming weight is not an issue, why not make one out of timber? You can customized it to your specs. My mate lined his with foam mattress underlay and it works a treat.

It's the only one I found that was long enough for my 22
That and a 303 and all the odd stuff that most never gets used at the range but you pack just in case
Only problem is it's too soft and tends to bend in the wrong places, A light aluminium frame would make it ideal. could probably hold 3 rifles if your good at tetris

The only thing I don't like about "black" gunbags is they adsorb and hold heat, especially up in this next of the woods.

FYI bags in the links above, most of them, you can pick up on eBay under $80. I was looking for something more sturdy. I don't think I would be game enough to make one out of wood.

Probably crap, but if all it has to do is cover the gun from safe to boot to bench and stops a scratch or 2 then why not.
I'm probably the Imelda Marcos of gun cases, I've got more cases than guns
I prefer hard cases, Pelican$$$, Plano$ or custom wood, but they are a bit unwieldy at the range.
The Nylon square double bag I have, you can open it out to use as a mat for prone shooting (well almost) or to cover a concreate bench.
The perfect bag is out there somewhere but I haven't found it yet.
I have to keep my side of the wardrobe full of something otherwise the misus clothes start to encroach

I actually prefer hard cases too, but I haven't seen a nice double rifle case I wanted other than pelican and s**t they are dear. hard case that fits two rifles with rings and chunky scopes would be ideal and where I can close it without having to take the bolt out.

Yeah I agree,
By the time you get a hard case big enough suite, you need to buy a light truck to fit it and a small crane to pick it up.
The one you are looking at does look pretty good, I am seriously thinking about getting one.

The LE one looks but but it's obviously aimed at at the tacticool crowd at that size, shooters of things like the Remington SPS Tactical and other 'urban' type marksman rifles.

That wouldn't fit a lot popular rifles, anything with a 22" barrel would be pushing it and I think you can forget a 23", 24" or longer barrel.

Shame they don't do a longer one?

A pelican case can fit 2 rifles if you cut foam carefully, try google for some pics.

Yes, but they are more expensive than some rifles, s**t, for the price of that case I might as well get a soft bag and a nice 22. I don't want a 22, but if it's a choice between a box and a 22... Well...

I own the black version of that rifle bag and it serves me very well. its Solid, soft, has bolt holders, and plenty of room for other stuff and you can wear it like a bag. very comfortable. no regrets here^_^

Soft case is usually nicer to carry around too. IMO.

Actually, something to clarify then, reason I want a hardcase is because I always had a hardcase... Rifle has a chunky scope and turrets on either side, meaning one is always touching the bag and inherently absorbing impact from car floor when I am driving. A hard case seems like a tool to significantly minimize that compared to a soft case. In my mind. A soft case would protect it against scratches and such, but probably not impact of going over speed bumps or potholes on dirt roads. But really it's for driving from safe to bench and back, there is really almost no carrying involved (boot to bench, 20m max)

Just a tip for what it's worth, I carry mine in a soft case but wrap a towel around the middle section over the scope before it goes in.

Takes the edge off those pressure points like you highlighted.

Looks good. Feels a little flimsy, but can't complain really for home-range-home trips. Easily fits two rifles with scopes. But probably could accommodate 3 or 4 rifles.

I have issues with pelican cases, i.e. case that costs as much as a new rifle - I am just going to go and get a new rifle, why, because!

So quick update on the double rifle case I purchased, you get what you pay for.

It did last from the car to the range. From the car to garage, not so much I picked it up like a box, rather than by the handle - lucky, handle fell off then and there. The combination lock on one of the compartments didn't work well, had to fiddle with it a little. Was seconds from getting a large screw driver. And the entire thing was kinda wobbly after the drive. I did go over some bumps, but nothing I would consider of any impact.

Anyway, binned it, didn't trust it enough not to fall apart next time. Back to looking...

Bad luck! Been trying to save for a pelican case.... Not having much luck tough.

Ps. I'd try emailing seller. Most sellers I've felt with have been pretty good re: returns for product failure.
