"0000" grade Brass, bronze or copper wool

Post by Historical » 09 Nov 2015, 2:55 pm

Hey guys,

tried searching the forums for a post on this came up short though.

seems like it would be a straight forward answer, but I'm coming up short every place I've contacted.

So if anyone knows anyone in Australia, preferably South Australia that regularly stocks "0000" grade brass, bronze or copper wool.

It would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.

Often steel wool is avoided because it tends to leav behind iron particles. These he embedded in the surface and speed corrosion. Particularly on surfaces like stainless steel. I assume that's the reason the OP wants to avoid steel wool.

Cheers for that Chronos will be looking into the scotchbrite and will see if I can come up with any suitable.

For reasons as stated by Chronos and those materials are less abrasive then steel wool.

I tried the scotchbright for a similar thing, it was gentler than steel wool but as implied by that wasn't as effective.

Not sure it's the best solution for something as stubborn as rust can be. But then nothing's perfect is it.
