Wolf eyes seal torch

Post by buster » 02 Nov 2013, 6:44 pm

Hi guys,

Anyone got one of the Wolf-Eyes seal torches?

Looks like a rugged little unit, claims up to 400m range which I'm a little sceptical about to be honest.

Anyone used one in the field?

There are plenty of lower price alternatives, Check out http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forum.php, they even have a part of the forum where you can ask for recommendations based on your needs.
Wolf Eyes is a very minor player in the Torch world these days, to find mention of them there you have to go back quite a few years., I'd probably be looking at one of the bigger manufacturers like Fenix. Do some research on the CPF as linked there are so many better more economical choices.

Here is a Google search https://www.google.com/search?q=Wolf+ey ... m&safe=off
as you can see most of these are fairly old, so not too popular.

I like em.

Especially the replaceable heads.

The 400m throw head is all good until there's some fog or something then becomes useless, but you can switch out for a wider lens to make more use of the visibility you've got instead.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Guliver,

I was looking at the Wolf Eyes because I've seen so many of their ads in magazines lately.

Hmm. 5 years old for those reviews :?

There is an enthusiastic local dealer, they are less popular in other countries, as I said there are many alternatives.

One might say the same thing about T model Fords, technology in this area really has come a long way.

I bought one of these just recently

Almost twenty times as bright as your old mag, it will light up a paddock almost like stadium lighting.

Probably not suitable for weapon mounting but there are other high tech alternatives.

I'm sure your right.

I wouldn't actually suggest buying one new, as you say there are plenty of better alternatives these days.

Mines only for the back of the 4WD or the camp site. Don't need to light up a stadium in there

This one has three nicely spaced levels, do some research the stuff that's available now is amazing.

Not to rain on your parade Blackened, but I'd say an old mag light could only be called rubbish these days :P

I'd never call a Mag total rubbish, they're well made but lack the output of today's high power LEDs.

There are some very good drop ins to upgrade your Mag. Not the cheapest http://www.malkoffdevices.com/drop-in-m ... t-mag-lite, but extremely well made, having had personal dealings with the guy who makes these, he has super customer service, you break it he'll fix or replace it. Problem is he's postage to Australia is pretty outrages, he only posts express. I have a friend in the states forward anything I buy from him.

A quality upgrade from http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_odkw ... e&_sacat=0

Don't buy the bulb replacement, Image

This is far far better Image

You do get what you pay for ultrafire are at the bottom of the barrel, poorly made with no real engineering behind the product. The torches do usually work but not a light I would want to rely on. The batteries are no better than junk.

I have just brought 1 and at the moment they are running a Easter special.

Free mount or battery, I went the mount and purchased spare battery and they are very bright and do work to 400m on a good clear night with the larger head fitted.

I brought mine as 1 of the other blokes that shoots with us has had 1 for 12 months and has had no probs with his. Plus we have lead lensers / p7s / mt 7 / p14 / p17/ and 7 and 14 head lamps, and this is in a different class of its own.

We use the leads to find the eyes and the seal goes on to shoot the game.

I am a believer that you get what you pay for and for its size this torch whacks out a great beam and is money well spent.

Sounds good Oldboy, thanks for the feedback.

I'm looking to get one too. The Easter special is as good of a reason as any to buy one now :)

Brought one for use on my Remington 700 VTR .308 / Leupold VX3 set up.
400 m all night long, picked up stuff I could not see previously.
Better than any of my Led Lensers or my Fox XLite

LED Lenser were the king for a while there but seems their getting outstripped by a few others now.

Fenix is taking off too it seems.

Biggest problem with this torch or any of the others including the night hunter is the warranty...
Limited life ,usually about 18 months ,company quote warranty then yell you replacement parts available for about half the cost of a new one.
Never again !
Look elsewhere is my recommendation .
