The trouble with using black powder is that EVERYTHING gets dirty including cartridge cases. Before they can be reloaded they have to cleaned and the sooner the better. So, a means of decapping at the range was needed prior to dropping cases in a solution of water, vinegar and detergent so I made this tool out of an old vice grip. The decapping pins are made to fit the cartridges Lady Noisy and I currently use.

Very similar to the one I bought from Frankford Arsenal, very handy little tool.

They look good.

I leave my cases until I get home, the 45/70s I use a Lee universal decapper, the 577/450 and snider cases won't fit the die so I use a decapping pin, a mallet and block of wood with a hole drilled in it and tap them out.

After depriming they get a quick scrub with a wire brush to get rid of the bulk of the crud before a hour in the stainless tumbler.

I've actually heard my missus say "ooooo...shiny" when window shopping at a jewellery shop. That was 10 yrs ago and I still tease her about it

My trouble is remembering to actually do when I get home and not forget about it for a week only to to find a bunch of green brass. Plus they need less time in the ultra sonic cleaner if they're partly washed in a bottle of detergent water at at the range.

I test fired some black powder in brass shotshells last week and couldn't believe how dirty n sticky it was.
Might need to do something like this

I cant help but roll my eyes when ever I read posts on forums from people asking for cleaner burning smokeless powders when they have no damned idea what dirty is
