Lokaway Safes

Post by jpatane17 » 05 Jun 2016, 1:16 pm

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows if you can remove the door on a Lokaway safe and reattach once you have moved to a new location.

I have a model LCH1 - 175KG so its hard getting up the stairs on our own. Thought removing the door will make this easier :)

Thanks

J

Probably not a good idea to remove the door as it may well be difficult to get back on and aligned properly. Won't save much weight either, best bet is to get hold of a fridge trolley. The one with 3 wheels either side, a strap and the upmarket ones have an extra arm with wheels that fold down to hold the weight. If no stairs are involved then easy enough to buy a sheet of form ply and some wheels to make a dolly. Ratchet tie down straps work well to secure the box to the dolly, this is how I've moved the big safes (280kg) on my own.

Me bad, the LCH2's are actually 250Kg not the 280kg I thought. They are not too difficult to move on your own if you employ a little leverage :)

Always room for one more  When they say "30 Gun" they really mean 20 rifles or 12 big guns. I'm not keeping much at home these days and have most of the big stuff housed at a separate location.

X2 i moved a 200kg safe unassisted down a rather steep driveway then up a flight of stairs with a conventional trolley. I am 29 and still in that stupidity phase. Bring some mates and use technology its not that hard
