Recommended cleaning patches

Anyone have a preference for the type of cleaning patch they're using?

Or all same-same.

Thoughts?

Not me.
I just buy bulk bags or the Forbytoo rolls.
I like to wrap a patch around the brush if I have a very dirty barrel.

I use all manner of "patches" anything from paper towel for the Shotties to ol shirts, sheets etc, so long as it holds solvent and does the job I don't care what I use to be honest, the bores are always clean and that's all that matter to me.

I just buy pre cut patches on eBay. And chuxwipes + paper towel for shotguns.

Not too fussy. usually buy a roll of the cotton stuff cheap from the LGS and cut my own patches. For the shotties I use paper towel and a bore mop to coat the inside of the barrel with oil so it doesn't rust.

Generally old rags such as tshirts or soiled bed sheets. But recently bought some chux cause BFS suggested them in one of the threads.
Frankly I not impressed with the chuxs and now, as always prefer soiled bed sheets.

What were you using the chux in?

I only use em in my smooth bores, not rifles just in case you missed that little detail. :D

Couldn't even tell you what I have :unknown:

Bought a big roll of something at the LGS, problem solved.

It just has to mop a bit of solvent or oil down the pipe, not a big ask of anything.

I don't recommend using Oldblokes soiled bed sheets, the risk leaving real s**t in the barrel just isn't worth it.

 Can't say I've ever used them on a rifled barrel, only smooth bores, so what happened (left crap in he bore I would imagine). Oh and definitely don't use paper towel in rifled barrels either :D again I only use those on smooth bores.

Spotlight do flannelette by the Mtr for those that are interested, should be a cheap way to clean ya bores if you don't mind cutting the patches to size

BFS, l must have miss understood the earlier post, no longer using chux for the 223 or other rifles. Back to soiled sheets.

Thanks for the heads up on this one Bigfella  , might see if I can get hold of a material cutter from my upholsterer mate. Lay out 10-20 layers or so then cut to size, I use a heap of patches so I'll get onto him tomorrow.

At a local OP shop I got a queen size cotton bed sheet for $2, a pair of scissors = a whole lot of patches.

:wtf: Certainly can't accuse you of being soft or half a$$ed in your approach to cutting patches Brett

Feel free to cut me some and send to PO Box Dingo... A few million should keep me in good stead for a while.
