Boyds stock

Post by Member-Deleted » 22 Nov 2013, 1:13 pm

I was just browsing the internet looking a guns and other thing i cant afford when i came across the boyds site, i put in all the details of my rifle and the result was http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/product.h ... 9&cat=1221.

Now im not sure if the link will take you to the exact stock i ended up looking at but a varmint thumbhole fitted to a remington 700 sps varmint with a short action HAS to be worth more then $99 USD?

Surely there has been an error here or I'm buying one very soon.

They have some more expensive ones, but I'm pretty sure the run of the mill Boyd's stocks have always been $99?

One of the guys here has done a topic on a few of his replacements - viewtopic.php?f=13&t=388

Boyd's sell stocks by the truckload so they can't be all bad.
See you on the firing line.

I ordered an un-inletted stock to fit to an old (but good condition) lithgow 22. $50 for the stock, $60 for shipping. on my door step in under 2 weeks. Quality - good. Price - very good. The $99 is real (and just under the US imposed $100 shipping ban)

Good thing their economy is so strong right now they can afford to ban us from giving them our money

Yep the $99 is right , about $150 delivered. I bought a thumbhole laminate for my Howa , the inletting was very good just had to shave a little off one
side around the action to get the barrel to sit central in the barrel channel . For the money they are great quality IMO , the wood is slightly soft though
and they dent pretty easily but for the money who cares . But because of that I do think you need to pillar bed them

I've got one my self there really bloody good. For what you're paying they rival Macmillan.

I've got a thumb hole one and it's pretty good, I sort of have to stretch my hand a little to shoot it but it's not really uncomfortable you also can modify them because there just laminated timber.

Paying $700 for a stock some times is good investment. Boyd's are good but they're cheap. I started wearing my stock from my hands so you probably get more use out of more expensive stocks.

Not that I have 7 rifles, but if I could fit out 7 rifles with new Boyds stock or 1 MacMillan stock... I know which way I'd go.

i agree i do think boyd is fantastic and i suggest them to all my friends, but im going with a macmillian because they build there stocks to people specification im quite happy paying the money getting a stock that been built to fit me perfectly, and seeming that im going with a pistol grip thumb hole stock that what you want.

also i forgot to mention i got my boyd within a week. and all in all it cost me $120 and they are good stocks i would buy them again. the wear i described was only after having it for a few years and is a little rough on the hands where iv been holding it so it nothing that going to be a problem.

Doesn't the Boyds site mention that orders over $100.00 can't be sent overseas. Probably the reason they are $99.00.
Perhaps they pick up a few bucks on the postage.

That's due to the US export limit isn't it? It's a $100 limit?

I am so pissed off. :x
The stock I need is $109.00 so they will not sent it to me. :x
I would love to pay more for postage to get the stock for $99.00

If you are a bit handy and wanting a project, why not order an unfinished stock and inlet it yourself - stock will be about half the cost.

If there is any interest, I will put together a story line of what I went through to inlet and finish the stock using the gear I had at home - given that I don't have a well equipped workshop and haven done this before, it might be of some use to others who may want to do the same.

Please let me know and I will put something together with pictures etc.

Thanks to all for your feedback
