Caldwell chronograph errors, and triggered by other shooters

Post by 5Tom » 30 Jan 2017, 2:57 pm

Hi all,

So took the chronograph out for the first time yesterday and found other rifles were triggering off the sensors making my data invalid.

I had plenty of other errors which I believe was caused by direct sun light as I read (had sun shades on but the shadow wasn't over the sensor).

Other shooters from 4+ benches across still managed to trigger the chronograph with a reading. Not always, but there was one or two rifles in particular that did it every time.

Had the chronograph set about 10-15 feet away (as per manual).

Any suggestions why other rifles triggered the unit?

Were they using muzzle brakes?
