Anybody got one I could buy ???

Post by Die Judicii » 12 Jul 2017, 7:51 pm

Am looking for a timber stock to suit a Zastava Model 91, .375 H+H Magnum.

I'd prefer a chequered stock if at all possible.

I don't care about the condition of the finish,,,, as long as there are no cracks, fractures or deep dings.

Can someone help me out here

:unknown: :unknown: :unknown:

You could probably pick one up new from importers through your local. Zasty parts aren't expensive!

Also look at the CZ/Brno option. I think they are pretty much the same action as Zasty is the copy. Might want to double check that as I could be mistaken.

I was looking on 'the barn' website today and they had quite a selection of second hand stocks. Might be worth a look.

Thanks Gwion,
I will send an enquiry to Beretta.
The Barn doesnt have anything listed that suits.

In the meantime if any other members have one,, please let me know.

Cheers

Seems like the old "game" of "Pass the buck" is alive and well.
I've been shuffled through 6 of the dealers, agents, and reps that I was advised to contact, starting with Beretta Aust and ending with Qld Gun Exchange.

Edit : I stand corrected,, I checked my emails again, and lo and behold there was a response from QGE
They are in turn waiting for a reply to say whether or not the correct one can be obtained, and a price.

Should or will ?

Mebbe I'll check that out too.
I gather Mauser would be more readily obtained, and trial fit.
Thanks,

Do you have an old stock for it?

Maybe contact Trekin. He has a stock copying service. He may be able to help.

Sucks that you can't get any service!!!

He is a member here so just search members and send him a pm. I have his email but won't post it without his permission. He copies stocks in timber or laminated bamboo.

:D  Thats OK Mate,,,,,,,,,,, I think we are all learning something here.

GWION,,,,,,,,,,,, Yes Mate, I have the stock it came with, except it's bloody synthetic,,,, and a slippery one at that.
If you don't consciously hang on like grim death it can literally jump out of your hands.

I let a friend have a shot one day (after me saying it's a slippery sucker), and it got away on him.
I managed to catch it just before it bit the dust.

Would those stock replicating machines be able to copy the synthetic stock ?

If the stock being slippery is the key reason your looking can't some sort of "grippy rubber "
Be glued to the stock?

Zastavas are a Mauser 98 clone, there are a few difference such as scope mounts, any large Magnum Mauser action stock should fit or be close enough with a small amount of work be made to fit. There are alot if copies of Mauser actions so there is alot of variations some stock dont have trigger cut outs or bolt cut outs, they need to be put in to suit. I'd look around for a Boyds or Hatchers or similar. Boyds are hard to get now, Hatchers make some good stocks, I'm sure they would know what will fit.

Can't see any reason why a synthetic stock can't be replicated. I'm sure Trekin will let you know.
