This is half a cow of new 4mm leather that was delivered yesterday for some projects coming up.
I have a heavy duty phone case to fit an IPhone 8 Plus ( in a life case) , another comb raiser for a Sharps .45-70 (+ 1”), and a cordless drill holster to make.
All good holiday fun :-)

I bet that hurt the back pocket.

The last half I bought (vegetable tanned) cost me a small fortune but 5 years later I'm still chopping bits off it.

That's a pretty good price. Where did it come from?

I've only ever bought leather from the one shop http://www.adelaideleather.com.au
It was on the market last time I visited about a year ago. Hopefully the next owners migh have a sharper pencil.

This is from Australian Leather Wholesalers in Lara, Vic.
Found them on EBay and their service is excellent!

Hmmm ... now you've got me browsing Tandy Leather and Ebay.

I could use a fancy set of letter stamps, I've been wanting a set for years.

Not being picky but, half a hide is called a "side". ;)

Keen to know where you can get 1/2 hide for $80!
Sounds too good to be true? You got a mate who tans it himself?

Yeah, it is. Half of a full hide, cut along the back-line, is a "side of leather". Anything else, i.e. shoulder, is a selected section. Like butchering a beast, there are many different "cuts" available.
Talking saddle-making and upholstery trade terms here, not "craft". :drinks: :friends:
