Stock extension

Post by Noisydad » 10 Jan 2018, 9:10 am

My 1911 built Winchester ‘92 has a quite short stock that always felt way too short for my 6’1” frame forcing me to “turtle neck” and readjust my hold so I could find the sights.
The solution was to cut a block of wood to the profile of the crescent butt plate and sandwich it in with a leather cover making the stock 2” longer.
The sights now just appear right in front of my eye immediately I shoulder the rifle and the hold is not fiddely at all and the lever is easier to cycle. Hanging out to shoot it off hand now! :D

The rivets can be bought in any saddlery store. I reckon they’d supply belt leather cut to size too.
The knife sheath is a pretty standard belt worn design and is attached to that belt just with the press stud flap through the knifes belt loop.
Making a bit fancier gun belt right now that can be used with or without a holster. It’ll have that press stud “utility flap” on the left side too.
The box stitching on the end of the stock extension does your head in but I’m getting better at it.

Good work Noisy.

For a second I thought I was going to open the topic and see some horrible bubba special with a chuck of wood bolted on with a couple of brackets or something

Good work as always, Noisy.

You'll be blowing apart target frames in no time.

( Or was that me? Pretty sure it was you :P )
