Pretty much what the topic is. Any suggestions? Hot water and soap? Something else? Etc?

I think the hot water and soap is the best for them. I sometimes give them a spray with the Carby cleaner during the job. The can hold a fair bit of carbon in the bristles and the force of the spray gets it all out, rather than put it back down the barrel.

At home it's warm/hot water and soap, same time as I was my hands to get rid of any solvent picked up. Sit out to dry.

At a shoot, it's a small bottle of Shellite. Just drop them in to wash and maybe lay them out anytime as it only takes seconds to air dry.

I use water and compressed air on my bronz brushes.
Mine are typically dirty from the water based alkaline solvents so it washes off well in water.

I squirt mine with a garden hose but seriously doubt that they need it.

Shellite or metho in a small jar...put brush in after every scrub run, give it a shake, then another, then take out & towel off (just squeeze on a clean rag).
Its well n truely dry before youve finished patching & ready for the next scrub.

I carry a jar of it in my cleaning gear..
I use this method all the time--home or out...there can be so much crap caught in the brush i dont see why you would want to put it back in the barrel for the next scrub.

If you're a stooge, you can let the copper & carbon settle in the bottom for a few days, carefully pour off the clear shellite into another jar & clean out jar.
Or just tip it out when its too dirty...

As some have already said above but instead with turps.
Flick off excess and dry with a rag.
More important for bronze brushes with a steel core like PH and many US brands. If they are not carefully cleaned then residual solvent seems to eat away at the base of the bristles and they break off easily long before the brush is worn out.
Does not seem to happen with brass core brushes with just a quick rinse in even fairly contaminated turps.

Ultrasonic does a good job if you already have one hanging around. White spirit leaves less residue than shellite, but both work well.
