Aldi Specials

Post by Oldbloke » 08 Mar 2018, 5:19 pm

Once again Aldi will have Game trail cameras for $129 and Laser range finders for $149 in a couple of weeks. (17 March) I now have a cheap Game trail camera ($52 on eBay  ) but I'm still interested in the Laser range finder. Did anyone buy a range finder last time and was it OK?

My Ebay cheapie ($99) doesn't work in the heat. Anything above about 32deg and it throws the measurement waay off. Can't speak for the ALDI units, but frankly you cant go wrong with them, if they don't work to your expectations, you have 60 days to return, no questions asked. Hard to do that with an ebay purchase.

Not sure how its working it out, at my 100m target it says its 305m!
But once the temp drops a little it comes back to normal and is reliable then. Could just be a dodgy unit I have, would be worth getting the ALDI unit IMO to try it out unless your nearest ALDI is so far away it's not worth the return trip.

IMO the best budget range finder I have ever seen is
http://www.condorgolf.com.au/5-rangefinders
it does more than a lot of high end range finders

sorry but I dont know anything about the aldi one

Darn OldBloke, ya beat me to it! The Wildlife camera and Laser range finder up to 800 metres distance and are available from tomorrow week ie Saturday, 17th.

Also, have a Night Vision Device for $149.00.

I've had the Aldi camera from last time and it still working and takes a great photo and video.

Fellas FWIW I got the range finder about 12 months ago from Aldi and I have found it pretty spot on for ranges out to 350-400m. Even used it for fencing and yard building, distances around 100m and then checked with tape measure.
For $149 not a lot of coin for a rangefinder.
Just remember that the batteries are wrapped in plastic which is hard to see and explains why mine didn't work straight off (facepalm). :D

Picked up one of the ALDI rangefinders last time they had them. Works really well out to the 800m limit, but that is it's limit. As with all rangefinders, the steadier your rest and the more defined your target, the more accurate the reading.

Got in the queue early. Looks like they only had a box of range finders and cameras. I got lucky and got a range finder. I have since discovered the local footy oval is 155 Mtrs long. So looking good. Optics dont bad either.

Heaps of shops do that and it's not right. Government should clamp down on the practice. But since they are piss weak it won't happen.

I didn't bother with the camera. I got one a few weeks ago on fleabay for $52. Seems to work OK for the very short over night test I did. It's out bush now for first time. So have a better idea in a week or so when I get back. I don't have a huge need for either. So going for the cheaper options.

I bought one of the Tactical ones from Annaconda a few years ago when they were on special. That was spot on using my wheel measure meter/tape to verify.

Go to an inner city Aldi if you want to buy outdoor gear, last year my local Aldi was discounting trail cams and range finders to get rid of them
