Has anyone here toyed with 45 Degree Offset sights?

I recently saw these while playing Battlefield and it made me think they might be useful on a longrifle for potential close range action while still having your scope. Has anyone here used them?

Close range? At worst the shot will be 1.5" or so low (scope height over bore).

Just put the muzzle to its head and squeeze

Popular in the U.S for their 3 Gun Comps where you have to engage both short and long distance targets with the 1 rifle. First saw this on a Jerry Miculek YouTube video of him shooting a 3 gun comp though not very practical for a hunting rig.

my son told me he has seen them on the levar guns with guid gun rail but i am of the mind if the scope is broke take it off and use the iron sights

Move tacticool than useful for recreational shooters IMO.

If you want them just for fun though, hey, go for it.

I got one from China for a red dot for like $30 delivered. I kinda toyed around with the idea but eventually just decided it would be easier to have a Vortex 1-4 that was I still get the eye relief but if I need to I could zoom in to take that should further out. Don't really see myself by in the situation needing to do that under a second it takes to turn the knob haha

Yeah, I'm not chasing rabbits through tight urban corners very often where I need to suddenly switch it to irons

I've thought about it because they sound useful on paper, but in reality how often would I really use them...
