NSW licence variation wait time

Post by Tiger650 » 22 Sep 2025, 11:01 am

Hello Folks
Possibly covered elsewhere but in case not.
Just now spoke to NSW Registry re adding hunting as a genuine reason, was told current wait time is up to 60 days.
Slightly clunky process in that Letter of Authority requires property size in hectares but online application to be completed by applicant requires property size in acres !
Also the applicant form asks for Property Owners firearms licence number whereas the Letter of Authority does not,

Why mess about with Letters of Authority? Just join a hunting club, problem solved.

Shows the competence of the individuals putting together these requirements. Good pick-ups though, you could just convert acres to ha at any rate.
Why they want the property owners licence number is designed to cause issues I reckon. What does the owners firearms license got to do with anything.
In Qld the authority form I've filled out for mates doesn't require that - only size in either ha or acres, rates notice to prove ownership and a statement on ferals animals present.

Worth the trouble if you have someone willing to do it for you, I get No1MK3's suggestion as an easy way of getting the hunting addition, but I can't imagine the drama of having to belong to another club just to go hunting when you get the offer or permissions in the future. And nothing is for free today is it?
More money to get in the queue.
Having access somewhere where you don't have to share it with who-knows-who is just the best.

Easiest thing is to get a game license & join a hunting club.
I got my NSW R license during Covid, easy exam, I did it over the phone with ADA.
