Tasmania - Antlerless season beginner advice

Hi all, with bookings opening in a couple of days for the coming antlerless season I'm keen to hear any advice, Tas specific or not, that might help me out.
I'm a pretty new shooter still if you ignore the odd go with a 22 or air rifle at a mate's place about 10 years ago.
I know there's a wealth of knowledge here and across YouTube etc. and I do try to utilise that but I'm always eager to hear first hand from people who know what they're talking about.

I haven't chosen a location or date yet but I'll definitely be booking two one week allotments, probably as far apart as possible in case I do fill up the freezer after my first trip.

I'll be off to either state forest or SSAA T06 to sight in the 30-06 Howa I picked up a few weeks back soon, and after this weekend I should be able to find time to bush camp to work out what gear is up to the job and what needs to be replaced.

I've also got some 1075 steel coming to try my hand at making a few personalised knives if anyone has some pointers for that.
