Cheers Guys.
I must say if you want to hunt buffalo in Australia myself and my friend from the States couldn't be happier with Aaron, his concession is five million acres, and we would have seen at least five hundred buffalo.
The cost is negotiable with Aaron, as I did a deal with him to drive a vehicle down to Victoria towing a car and trailer, so I'm not sure on actual cost, but he has plenty of buffalo.
The Buff in the photo took 2 rounds to put him on the ground after an half hour stalk and getting to within 40yds of him, he took a 570 grn Woodleigh in the shoulder, then a spine shot as he was running away to anchor him.
Another buff I shot I stalked to within 30 yds, but he was facing me head on, so had to go for a chest shot, that caused him to take off, but as he was running from about 40 yds I hit him on the shoulder, and it absolutely knocked him off his feet, Aaron said that he has never seen a buff go down that hard before.
But the Undisputed Prize goes to a one horned old scrub bull, that took 5 bullets to put him on the ground! We spotted him from about 200 yds, and Aaron said take him, being that far away even if I stalked him closer, across open ground, it was a daunting task, my mate offered me his scoped 500 BDM, but wanted to shoot him with my open sighted double. I got to within 100 yds of the old fella, he was massive, but when I put the double front sight on his shoulder at that distance, the front bead blocked out his whole shoulder, so big breath and let one fly, he gave a jump, then just walked off up a bit of a hill, so I started to follow him thinking that I hit him, but not real sure how bad at that distance, Aaron and my mate were some 100 yds behind me, so I headed off after him, came across him at about 30 yds, gave him one in the shoulder, and one in the neck, and he just walked off, I ran after him, seeing his rump , I had 2 more shots, one just grazed him, and the other hit him smack bang in the rump, which didn't even make him limp. I checked my double and suddenly realised I had only one bullet, in the left barrel, so I am walking slowly looking at all the blood on the ground, through thick , but skinny trees, just happened to look up, and he was 15 yds in front of me facing me with his head up, I kept thinking one bloody shot, and as I sighted up between his eyes, he lowered his head looking as he was going to charge, and I put a 570 grn SP just below his eyes, which finally dropped him, Aaron had just pulled up about 40 yds behind him, was going for his 375, and saw the big fella just drop on the spot, one heck of a tough animal.
I will try to download a couple of pictures of him, I tried earlier on but the file was rejected.
Cheers Baz.
