that's if I can get a shot in as the kids are very proficient and fast at getting behind the rifle
have been getting ph calls from 2 farmers wanting me to shoot some deer coming out of the bush at the moment
I will most likely have a crack in the next few days :drinks: but I will leave the young ones home

I tried to make a couple of tin whistles today ......let’s just say I should stick to my day job. I have a purchased tube whistle so will stay with that for now. On my hunt next week I will have tons of time to make a good tin whistle so maybe then.

I made three tenterfield style ones, after someone at the range decided that my tenterfield in my ammo box was rightfully theirs & not mine...(dirty gutless kunts...!!)...

And havnt had success with any of them...

2 were made the same, one with different sized holes, all sound slightly different & ive not had success with any of them yet...(mind you, winter is not a good time to judge a whistle...)

What do you make old bloke...Tenterfield style, or other...?

Oldbloke makes a pretty good whistle. Takes a while to get the hang of the Tenterfields and probably more skill to make the correct dying rabbit call.

@Oldbloke have you made them out of different materials like brass, copper, silver ect would the different materials make different sounds?

I just had a look on YouTube and I had been doing it very wrong. After the vid I managed to get one of my whistles working. So just need to practice on it and should be good to go.

Do you think there'd be any chance he'd sell one to me...?

I can blow them ok...its just the sound from the tin thats hard to get right...

And it's getting colder here, leaves are falling and the main hunting seasons are coming up for deer, bear and turkey.

Pennsylvania. Deer season for rifle is a big deal, couple hundred thousand people in the woods on opening day, many school districts are closed. I just hear bang bang bang all day for opening season. Archery for deer here in October I think is better because the deer are not so flightly and the rut is only just beginning. The deer seem to know that time of the year when all the vegetation disappears and the rut is going on that they are being hunted, so you have to watch when driving as well as the deer will be running all over the damn place. Rifle bear season is before Thanksgiving in November, so it's bear to start with and then deer afterwards.

No hogs here in PA, which is good. Alaska and Texas probably have the more primo hunting in terms of diversity of animals and seasons along with taking more skill and adventure to hunt.
