Best brand for proper sleeping bag?

Post by Khan » 31 Jul 2013, 4:21 pm

After a pretty useless trip to BCF (Boating Camping Fishing) for some sleeping bag advice, I'm turning to you guys for help :)

I'm after a pair of sleeping bags for proper camping, i.e. can stand up to all the conditions you find camping in a forest.

No portable heaters, or any of that business.

All the sales guy at BCF basically had to say was "This ones good, or this one, or this one..." for literally every one and couldn't tell me the different between a bag that was double the price of a different one.

What do you reckon?

Which ever one you go with, be aware that the "suitable for 4c degrees" claims are pretty generous.

That will mean it will keep you alive in 4 degrees, not warm. Best to buy the most insulative one you can find if you're expecting some cold nights.

That's the kind of info I'm after, thanks.

It gets a few below zero out here so need something to really keep the cold out.

Blackwolf bags are good.

I have a pair of singles which connect to make a double for if the missus want's to come. Think I got them on sale for $80 for the pair, and they're -2 degree rated?

North face stuff is good, but expensive.

TBH I was given the one I have, it's good but I'm not sure I'd actually pay what they're asking for them myself lol.
