Police and DPI operations at Mansfield VIC last weekend?

Post by AusC » 17 Mar 2014, 2:26 pm

I hear through the grape vine that last weekend Vic Police, DEPI and whoever else were putting on a big operation around Mansfield and the surrounding state forests and national parks.

Apparently targeting hunters, inspecting vehicles, checking licences and permits etc. The whole works.

Not just a few random stops but a decent size targeted operation by what I hear.

Anyone get pulled up? I'm just curious about the goings-on up there.

Yep,

A mate of mine lives in Yea and was out there on the weekend.

Got pulled over and got the works inspected.

Wasn't doing anything wrong of course just a huge waste of time while they go through your stuff...

Sucks to get harassed but what's the motto?

"Nothing to hide, nothing to fear"

I'm sure everyone here has their game permits in order ;)

I was out there that weekend but found out about the stops and inspections after the fact. Didn't see any myself.

We got to our spot coming from Alexandra though and went south around the bottom of Lake Eildon and the National Park through the state forest.

Guess they're targeting the Mansfield locals maybe?

They must get a few for all that effort I suppose.

What does a game license cost in VIC, it's only $90 or something right?

For the sake of $90 you'd be a fool to go hunting without one and risk your license and gear.

Not common to see a ranger down there I guess.

People get slack or resentful over paying $90 for "nothing" and let it slide.

Only themselves to blame if they get caught.
