GMA have released their deer report.

42,000 deer hunters in Vic now!
174,000 deer reported harvested!

6.8 deer per hunter (bulldust) X 42,000 hunters does not equal 174,000 deer.

It's not a maths test :-)
It is not claiming that every licenced hunter even managed to go hunting in 2019. It is saying that of those hunters that responded to the survey, they averaged 6.8 deer each in 2019. They know how many licences have been issued without needing any respondents to the survey.
I know deer hunters that shoot a lot more than 6.8 every year.

Regardless, as there is no recording except for hog deer, they can only base the results on the information provided by the respondents.

Its a difficult area to get any reliable data for. An example of missing data is Primary Producers who dont need to apply for any licenses or permits to take deer on their own property or on any farm land with permission from the owner.

That's true, but this is only derived from GMA's data, it makes no claim to including all deer harvesting.
