According to my research, the heavy 405 and 500 and 525 cast always offer fantastic penetration even down at much slower speeds. I not used mine in the field yet so can’t offer pig loads, but big rich, should we ever catch up at a range one day I’ll give you some of my soft big meplat home cast 405 grain Pills to Load up

1895GBL it is! Mwah hahahahaha! Good work mate, you'll bloody love it.

The case capacity makes them king; use a 300gn jacketed for faster, flatter loads and a 400+ lead slug for those hard hitting brush thumpers.

If you don't want to cast for it straight up try the Blackwidow pills. They do good Hitek coated stuff and the price is reasonable.

I'm currently working up a 350gn load to try and push 2100fps out of her, should be good for a giggle.

Red goes faster.
Pigs cant see green ones coming. Camouflage!!

See you hardly notice the bullets!

you've lost me with the red and green reference mate

Look at the bullets in the piccie.
Green projectiles are a medium load.
Red a heavy load and
Blue are pure lead.

Yeah sorry I powder coat and colour tells me the load used.
Nickel cases are Black powder straight brass are smokeless.
It is not as complicated as it sounds.
One well placed shot is all it takes.

BLR , yes ,the slow moving lead projectiles just drill through anything according to what i've read on other forums . alliant 2400 and trailboss are favored powder from what i've read , but others just use reduced loads of 2207 it seems

boingk- thanks for the load advice , and pushing me over the edge to buy a 1895gbl you evil b@stard

lawrenceA - thanks for clarifying your load system, very clever . and you and others have also highlighted the key thing i like about the 45-70 , lots of load flexability

i dunno why , WLB must like me . i've got my PTA approval . 26 hours . :o true ! this is the fourth one in a row that's taken between 24 to 26 hours :wtf:

well done WLB  :drinks: :drinks:
