Vets have never checked roos as a matter of routine inspection. Human consumption meat is checked by a accredited meat inspector. He/she doesn't need to be a vet. I had multiple State and Federal vets, stock inspectors and quarantine (State and Federal) under my program and it was only when a particular disease was an issue with an imposing country that this issue arose. The Russian fiasco with roo meat was an example as had many where a country has claimed we have had diseases in sheep, cattle roos that haven't existed.
My last 500 roos went to a processor with heads on and they were for pet meat.
