Why hunters drain blood from game?

Hopefully not sounding too stupid here...

Other than preventing a mess from having blood everywhere, is there a reason blood needs to be taken out for health concerns?

I'm not talking about any religious rules here, just practical butchery. Is it just done for cleanliness?

Meat obviously still has blood in it after an animal is drained, so I can imagine there is any real health issue with it?

Draining an animal doesn't make is sparkling clean throughout...

Assuming the animal is otherwise health, properly processes, cooked etc. etc. If its meat it otherwise safe to cook and eat then I believe the blood is too.

From my perspective it's just about removing the unwanted blood from meat.

There can be undesirable microbes etc. in blood.

It's really just best practice to drain it for health and cleanliness reasons.

Drink half a cup of blood and see how you feel.

Then you'll know why ;)
