The roar

The stags started roaring on Mt Archer in the first week of March. This morning- first day of the long weekend- they were silent. I can imagine the stinkers high up in the ridges chuckling at the hunters straining their ears for a sound.
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but personally I prefer the .30/30 Winchester.

Listening so hard all they can hear is their own breathing, blood pumping, and ears ringing.

Two replies to this in one month. A very sad state of affairs on enough gun in relation to hunting deer in prime time ....I’m guilty of having a place to look for deer and dingoes only 100 Kay’s from home but couldn’t be bothered making the effort. Shame on me

And one of the other issues is that it has been so unbelievably wet over most of the east coast of Aus. You need floaties to go looking for deer in most places at the moment. Even some of the deer have started to grow flippers.
