Still never met a parks ranger

Post by whert » 01 May 2014, 10:57 am

I've been shooting about 2 years now.

Go out to the state forests here once every 3-4 weeks or something like that.

All those trips and I've never bumped into a ranger. I'm not always going hours and hours into the forest either.

Close enough to towns that I bump into fellow shooters pretty regularly. Never a ranger though.

Just wonder how many are out there and how often people actually bump into one?

If you're in the state forest you're more likely to run into forestry staff... Parks Vic have no business in SF as far as I'm concerned...

Check the forest map explorer (or whatever the name is) as You may be hunting in a 'public safety zone' from which you (anyone) can be evicted from....these bogus zones cover vast areas of SF....

I was talking to a bloke from the nsw riverina who said he often sees them. Guess it depends what forests you're in and how many problems they've had in the past.

Regardless if you're doubt the right thing you've got nothing to worry about and if you see others who aren't please report them through proper channels, I get sick of seeing stuff that brings us a bad name

Should have said, its the current version of the DSE officers who you would possibly expect in the SF.... or the politz chasing down motorbikers...

I might have the department or person wrong there. Didn't specifically means a Parks Vic person.

I've just never run into anyone.

I assumed you were allowed to ride trail bikes out there. Enough people doing it...

Not so?

Bikes aren't my thing, this is just going from seeing signs about the place... There are marked routes for trail bikes at a few places.

I dunno if this is where they're allowed to ride, or just direction so they don't get lost.

That's mostly for logging operations isn't it?

Never heard of anyone getting run out just for the hell of it. Not that a few people wouldn't try though I guess...

I haven't either, but they're there.

There was a big operation around Mansfield a few weeks ago where they where checking all hunters going in/out of the area.

About a year ago a mate and I parted ways after some days out and he got checked for game license and all the rest (Had a deer with him).

They're out there somewhere.

Mostly for logging, but the exclusions zones can be used for other "safety" or "environmental" reasons yeah right....

Lorgar, the sheriffs were checking that the serfs had paid the necessary fee and complied with the appropriate laws to take the Queen's game....
