Storage at different premises

Can you store your licensed firearms securely in safes at a premises where there is no licensed shooter living there?

May vary by state. Where are you located?

I can tell you for Victoria anyway in the mean time.

Here you need to declare a regular storage address, doesn't matter if you live there or not. Just need to be the 'regular' place so they can carry out inspections.

Other people can live there, they just can't have access to the safe if they're not licensed.

No different to living with someone who doesn't have a shooters license.

You don't have to be standing guard over the sage 24/7 so they can't approach it.

Just don't give 'em the code or the key ;)

Post your state though in case it's different.

So one of the local shooters can confirm ;)

regular?
(VIC)You can store each firearm at a different address if needs be which you could change every day of the week if you felt the need - just make sure you advise LRD within 7 days AND you never allow access or leave the keys with anyone unless they are licensed are personally + lawfully permitted access+the storage always complies with the requirements of hard wood or steel bolted down if less than 150kg.......

You can in ACT, it's a provision for guns held on a farm and you live in town (doesn't have to be in Canberra, can be in NSW). Defence force members sometimes use it to when they get moved around.

'regular' might have been the wrong word.

My point was you need possess a firearm in VIC you need to specify an address for where the firearm is routinely stored.

In answer to the OP's question, yes it can be stored at an address with no licensed shooter living there.

That's accurate and answers OP's question. Updating addresses and safe specifications are requirements are another topic...

What's the fuss?

No fuss, if there was a fuss I'd use uppercase... :D

When it comes to storage address and LRD; there is no such thing as regular, usual or routinely stored address. There is storage address. if you change it then you are compelled to advise LRD within 7 days, period.

If you go away, say camping for a few days then thats a different thing.

Now, the most important question is whether or not that's really a picture of you???

If I was to store 14 guns at home in victoria and have another 14 registered in my name but stored in a separate location would I avoid the back to base alarm system requirement?

I was thinking more of another family member or friends place. But a spare house just for guns, it would be nice wouldn't it.

I've heard of guys keeping their guns at their business, (back to base alarm and keeps your family happy that guns aren't around). Along as you don't ride a Harley and live in QLD

It would. It's on my to-do list below "marry Scarlett Johansson" along with dozens of other things which will never happen
