Bleaching bones white?

Post by kritch » 29 May 2014, 3:43 pm

Hi all,

Need some trophy advice.

Getting bones clean for display, or bleach the thing to use to whiten them up once the tissue has been removed?

Seen a few home done ones where they don't look like they've had anything done after that. They just look grubby really.

Are they bleached? I dunno anything else to make them white

or is there something special the pro taxidermy places use?

use peroxide like the stuff ladies use on there head
you can get some quite strong stuff from a hairdressing supply shop that mixes into a paste and just paint on

Bleach damages the bone, or so I've read.

Hydrogen peroxide is apparently best, like Cruze says.
