Summer hunt report. Cent q

Post by Blr243 » 02 Jan 2025, 1:30 pm

Been here 6 nights. So far every pig I have shot is black and white Or multicoloured ginger etc. not shot a single black one. Love it. There has been rain so I’m not getting them on the dams. It’s all on dusk or at night. Shot three foxes and 18 pigs so far. Probably tomorrow I pack up camp and head to a different property it’s very small but the pigs are locked in because of the exclusion fence. I might just spend half day there or a night or more. I don’t know yet. Been useing my 300 aac. And my 450 bushmaster Really loving the shotgun too because I haven’t taken game with a shotgun for maybe 20 yrs or more. I got rained on bad and the wind smashed up my camp there’s been tough times wet and cold trying to sleep , rest in the cabin of my Ute while the howling wind rocks my car. Long walks in slippery uneven ground. I’m resting now so I have energy for tonight It’s dry now and it’s so good to have the sun dry out my bedding mattress and all my clothes.

Long time since I shot a pig or goat.
Deer these days.

Foxes are currently refusing to cooperate ATM.
A young kid keeps educating them on one property. Neighbours at the other I think.

Well, that's my excuse. :unknown:

With luck I'll finally get out in a couple of days for a whistle.

I did whistle one of those foxes in. Poor bugger came trotting in quite keen. There was no need for him to get any closer. I hit him full choke at ten metres ..

Sort of Mitchell. I think there were some days forcast to be up to 34 deg but we got a few cooler days because we had some overcast and some rain. Only once did I have to hook up the genset and turn on the air con. Other days I just toughed it out in the shade.

No issues up there with flood water? Looks like Cunnamulla has got plenty.
