Laser for hunting

Does anyone use a laser sight for hunting?

Just curious?

Always a few ads for these in the shooters mag, just curious who's actually using them?

Got a mate that strapped one on his .223, but it never really took off for him * or anyone else ) it's a bit of a novelty but if your close enough have enough light to see the target it can be quick, also seemed to help "in the right conditions" picking it up through a scope. But he has since taken it off in favour of a quick detach night scope.

I've got a quality laser on my .22

Its great for low light when you are struggling to see properly through the scope, it is very good for shooting from the hip or really close range stuff.

You can get accurate shots off really fast because you don't need to find the scope, get a proper stance and hold.

Don't buy a cheep one, I'd recommend a Laserex like this one http://www.ssaa.org.au/industry-news/20 ... sight.html That's what I bought from my LGS many years back and its still going great.

Yeah I've got one on the .22 for shooting rats in the shed with rat shot and one on the Pump action 12g for close in foxes and the like in the bush. I've found them to be absolutely great considering I bought them off of eBay for less than $10 each :)

Not for me.

I just found them distracting when you're presented with a crosshair and a dot.

Then over distance they don't line up and you've got 2 markers, neither of which are the POI.

All too much hassle IMO.

Get rid of some of those mil-dots and maybe you're scope won't be such a mess :P

Ha ha.

I'll take the black dots over a red dot any day.

Quality must be seriously low but you can get a laser only for $24, or a laser torch combo for $33.
