Rubbing antler on trees vs rubbing a stick

Any deer hunters will know the trick of rubbing a tree to mimic the sound of a deer rubbing it's antlers on it to mark territory.

A stick is the usual tool I thought, it was suggested to me to get a bit of antler and do it with that for a more authentic sound instead.

I could pick up a length of antler for $40 or $50 or whatever so it's not a big investment.

Reckon it makes a difference though? Worth bothering with?

It's not so much the cost, just carrying it around all the time for no reason is the concern. If a stick will do the same job...

I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
