Is it still worth going out if its going to rain?

Game hunting and large prey. Deer stalking, hunting with hounds. Boar, pigs etc., large prey, culling, hunting large feral animals.

Is it still worth going out if its going to rain?

Hey all,

Just wondering who thinks it is still worth going our for rabbits if there is a high chance of rain? (90% chance of 1-5mm)

If it was just a bit of 4wding and camping it wouldn't bother me too much, but is it worth for shooting?

Cheers

Ask the rabbits. hahahah

Absolutely go out Benny, if you don't mind the rain. Unless it's absolutely bucketing down, it won't effect your shots at close range with a .22.
A more powerful rifle will shoot at distance no worries in the rain. Mr Fox and Mr Hare don't mind the rain either.

in the bush its better to go out in the rain, the sound of the rain on the ground and through the trees disguises the sound of your feet on the corn flakes (crunch crunch)...

Rabbits, possibly stay underground when its raining...give it a go.

Rabbits don't seem like to get wet, I have noticed they will even avoid dew covered grass if they can, to keep their bellies dry.

Hardcast is right in saying hairs and foxes seem to get amongst it a bit more.

I have seen rabbits getting around between small light showers this week and even on windy days, but they aren't venturing far from their burrows.

I look at it this way.... If its good enough outside for me to want to hunt, then its probably good enough for a rabbit to graze.

well weather turned out to be pretty good after all, but seen literally one hare and about 7 wombats! no rabbits or foxes.

was at swan reach sa on private property, never seen so many wombat holes in my life!!

not sure why there weren't any rabbits though.

I might say they tend to stay underground a bit more in the rain, but that's not 100%.

They're still about, as are foxes and other game. Bigger stuff like deer, pigs etc. can still be active too if it's not too heavy. If you're into that hunting.

It's a mixed blessing the rain.

Masks your sound and your smell which are obvious winners.

It definitely is harder to get out there to put in the hours though when it's constantly cold and wet.

Depends how dedicated you are I guess  and if it's worth it to you

Swan Reach is my old stomping grounds, sure are plenty of wombats there hey.

You normally see plenty of foxes there to but I only ever head out at night with the spot light up there.

Had sone good luck with foxes around Black hill about 30 kms South West of Swan Reach.

You obviously haven't been to my local golf course. As soon as the rain drives the golfers away the rabbits make the most of it and are eeeeverywhere.

Sounds about right to me. Pouring with rain I won't go out, but crappy weather like drizzle, fog, and a bit of water won't stop me.
