Trophy heads

I'm mainly a meat hunter, but I've often thought that if a decent stag stepped out in front of me I'd be hard pressed not to shoot it. Anyone know what the cost is in having a head mounted? I was thinking of just doing a skull mount on a nice chunk of hardwood.

I don't know what it costs but I have an idea that it's about as much as a new cheap gun . So I would just do your own skull mount . It will look just as good on the wall and it's far easier to look after. It does not have to be fancy to show the World that you bagged it .

A good deer will set you back somewhere between 750-1000 bucks and in 2 years your old lady will say can't that go out in the shed it's ugly, to which you will reply like you your mother!!!!And that's were the fight started judge   :o

I have the names, numbers of a few local taxidermists here, they do the work of one of my LGS and it looks good to me.

I'll dig them out when I get home, give them a call and ask.

They're in VIC but can obviously give you a price. If you don't have someone local maybe even ship?

Hope it helps.

That's when you tell her how much it really cost (because you lied and said $250) and when she knows how much it's worth she won't bring herself to put it out

Don't you believe it you'll be out with your head and that'll be the only thing you get to mount for the next 6 months LOL

Coming clean about the cost of things only lands you in further trouble.

Best keep that one to yourself

Blimey fella's after all that info I reckon I'll just nail it to the bloody fence and hang the hose on it.

You're a realist though Westy.

Lorgar, thanks for the info mate, I'm in Northern NSW so in the unlikely event I get one I may have to find a local bloke. In any case I can't see me paying all that money just to have it stare at me for the rest of my life.

I suppose I could have it's arse mounted, that's all you usually get to see anyway.

Yes, I think I'll find some nice bush timber to make a mount on. Provided I get one that is.
