Is hunting in cool weather a good rule of thumb?

I have only read about deer specifically but do most just bed down on hot days making them harder to find?

I'm not sure if it's better or not but days like this make it harder for them to see you!!!!

It's in the mid 30's up my way in N/E Vic at the moment. Chances of seeing active deer during the day are just about zero.

Trust your animal instinct, animals enjoy great weather the same way we do ... no one wants to be bussy on a 45 deg day nor a freezing, windy, rainy day. I find the best hunting shortly after first light and shortyly before dusk on a fine day.

Keeping meat is easier when it's cooler.

its our only option here in the west its far to hot on the farm in summer, went out bush 2 weeks ago and it was 48degrees in the shade at our camp spot

but must admit if you can handle the heat it gets easy to hunt because they all look for water and you just set up a blind and wait

As a rule most will be less active in very hot weather, yes.

Still, things gotta eat and drink so they will be there somewhere, if only for a narrower window.

I wouldn't put off a day for it if you're just going for a good time. If you're planning a trip in advance though I'd aim for a cooler day.
