Vacant Crown Land

Post by Muddy1967 » 19 Oct 2013, 7:08 pm

Short question.

WHERE THE HELL IS IT.

I understand that it is legal to Shoot on vacant Crown land, how ever I can't find any maps that identify where it is.

Really need places to shoot. (As we all do)

Vic DSE forestry maps might be of assitance?

http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/forests/forest-maps

You can click the "Forest Explorer Online Interactive Maps" link and apply filters for various kinds of land.

There are plenty of small state forests riddled around the place, not just the huge ones which are obvious on the map.

I've shot in north, east and SE VIC and there's something no more than an hour from both areas.

Give us an idea of where you are and maybe I can suggest somewhere.

I am in Cranbourne, so S.E. and gippsland in cool. I usually head out to the Yarra Glen area with the Brother in law.
Always keen to get out and shoot with new people and soon to be friends.

Yarra State forest is near you then. I haven't been but there is space there you can shoot in.

NE of you is Warburton which has some nice open space around that area.

I've been to Latrobe SF before too but it was a waste of time. Too dense and too inaccessible for anything.

NE of you is Noojee State forest which is good too, and Thomson is a bit further past that. Anywhere further than that though is a bit more than a 'day trip'

Just found this thread, do you mean unalienated land?

It means land that the crown owns but is not leased out or used by any department of the Government.

I am under the impression that you can shoot on it, if you can find where it is that is, as from what I have read its very secret squirrel stuff.

A bowhunting forum has a thread on it. If anyone finds this "land" please let me know I promise not to tell anyone ;)

http://www.environment.sa.gov.au/managi ... rown-lands

That might give you a clue.... There is heaps of crown land allong the murray. Some of it might be unalianated.

I'v been meaning to head into the DEWNR and ask them if they can provide me with a map of unalianated crown land, otherways its just a game of guess work that will cost you $$ every time you ask them to check a title for you.

Something here might help to http://www.atlas.sa.gov.au/

What aliens have landed?? :?

Unalienate land is anything that hasnt had a title created for it and been alienated or removed/separated/sold off from the 'crown estate' ie. most of the forest, state and nat parks etc would be unalienated. Quite a bit had been alienated but reacquired by the Govt or the Regent. I even have a copy of a title that returned land, after it was no longer required by a Gov Department, to Queen Eliz II.

By the way I dont know what the 'crown' is, I have an idea and I dont think its the diamond encrusted thing on Lizzies head....or lizzyherself. The UK Parliament were even asked the question and couldnt definitively answer it......

Either way, the greatest fallacy is that of 'public land', it cant be both 'public' and 'crown'; reality is the we the 'public' can enter upon it until those who 'can', will tell us we can't!!
