Hunting Rushworth area Victoria

Hi all,

I am a new to this forum.

We have just bought a property in the Rushworth area. The property is near the Heathcote Rushworth state forest. Has anyone been hunting in this forest? If so what animals exist in this area?

in the file it says:
Test your hunting skills
with licensed firearms
and protect the forest from pest animals such as
foxes and rabbits. You must also have a
shooter’s licence.

So i guess people do hunt there?

Not much up there as the rabbits have moved in close to popular areas, there is goats down towards Heathcote but can be hard to find but Roo's everywhere.
Just be careful as many state forests are divided by roads that the other side may be a nat park ect.

100 acres.... Sounds big enough to raise a few head of deer to me

Haha yeah. What about in terms of foxes in the area? Does anyone live near the area?

It's only foxes and rabbits as far as I know.

Never heard of deer in there.

I drive through there once or twice a month on my way to burn sulphur and have never seen anything but roos.

My dad's up that way, there not to much up there mostly open private land and lots of the forest is becoming Nat park of some sort, friend has seen deer north of Heathcote, best to just drive and see.
