What animal made this print?

What animal made this print?

Just as the subject says. I'm not certain what made this. It's a 3006 round for size. ( Bloody great round  ) Looks too big for Goat or Fallow. Perhaps a Red Deer or Pig? It rained the night before as you can see.

For myself I am not seeing any picture there.

Edit - the picture has now appeared.
I would think pig is possible. Not deer which are more narrow to the front and point together.

Going by the size of .30-06 round I suggest a small deer.
Browning BL-22 lever action...open sights
T3 Varmint .204 Ruger...Meopta Meostar 4-16X44
T3 Lite .30-06 Sprg...Aimpoint Hunter 1X red dot

....that will do me

Too big for fallow or goat
Bit small for sambar & my understanting is no sambar in the region

Medium sized deer such as a red was my first thought, but deer are usually pointy, so Im thinking pig

Not splayed enough to be a pig, hard to pick between a small deer and a goat without looking at the walking pattern.

Looks to me just like the REAR hoof print of a fallow buck. I saw hundreds of them today. Fronts come in to a point but a decent sized buck will have quite blunt parallel rears. I've never seen Red Deer prints. Is there any difference in these two for shape?

Mmm, perhaps I was a bit quick to dismiss Fallow. They are in the area, but a new species for me.

I'm guessing it to have been heading in the same direction as your 30-06 round is pointed ????????

What are/were your impressions on the direction ?

I've seen some very odd prints that I could never positively ID (and some of those were very distinct and fresh), but I've never seen anything like what's in your pic.

? possibly a very large duck that hops/stands like a roo ? :wtf:

I found it late morning. It rained the night before and the print had been rained on, so guessing late the previous evening. It was crossing a track from bush to bush, but about 1 km away there is a farm, was headed in that direction. Only about 6 prints and this was the clearest. Will head back when I get a chance.

If you can find the pattern measure the stride length, that'll narrow down options a lot.

These are similar but the toe does go to a slight point, but will try and get a pic like I saw the other day.
