Dangerous,,, he WAS !

Post by Die Judicii » 06 Aug 2015, 6:47 pm

I shot this fellah a number of years ago.

I considered him to be dangerous due to the fact that he would not move or back down.
In fact one afternoon he actually started following my ex from behind, even though she had a dog with her.

I had a cull permit at the time, so I decided he had to go.
He was a pretty big mongrel, and stood much taller than I am. ( I am 5' 10" )

I had read of an account where an old buck had attacked, and dragged a stockman off his horse.
I'd hate to see what he could inflict on a woman.

Yep some of em can be quite territorial at times and get very agressive into the bargain, I'd have done the same thing mate, not worth the risk of injury/death.

They can be downright nasty mongrels, especially to women. I think you made the right choice

I've seen a few dead on the side of the road that were massive bucks, I thought to myself I'm glad I didn't hit that bastard (felt sorry for the poor buggers that did) they would have suffered some major vehicle damage for sure.

There not all cute and fluffy.

While out hunting a pack of rouge kangaroos that had been taking the neighbors sheep we spotted this fella ... obviously not happy to see us.

Yeah mate,, just a plain ol' roo, though this ones claws were pretty small compared to average.

CASA ( civil aviation ) are having trouble with them at the major airports lately, cos they get in the way of incoming planes out on the runways (the grass is nice and fresh alongside the tarmac),,,,,, and they are threatening incoming tourists.
I guess they get territorial.

Screwing with the Yank,,,,, ?????????

We would never do that.

there's a couple near me that would stand taller than I am, and not slightly, either. I'm a whisker shy of 6ft, these two boomers must be 7ft, perhaps a little more.

Title, don't let the cute fluffy kangaroo images you see trick you. For the most part they are passive, but the boomers can get really aggressive and they have rather nasty claws (though the claws in the first picture look much shorter than normal). They can do real damage when they want to.

Looks like that one must've bitten Bronwyn on the neck at the last official function.
Now the poor fella is suffering the after effects.

I was fortunate enough to meet Malcolm many times and get previews of some of his films before being released. His son Lachlan was a year under me in school and dad was only too happy to come to school to show his movies and educate kids. He'd have all manner of Aboriginal speers, clubs, boomerangs and such, along with the odd live snake and lizard. His visits were the highlight of the year, great man and passionate about the Outback.

I still watch his videos from time to time, Hopefully they will have a re-run of his films so another generation can enjoy his adventures and be inspired to follow in his footsteps.

I'm waiting for someone to put his cooking recipes together on paper together with a basic list of things that his tuckerbox was packed with.

I wonder if his lad is running the sanctuary now?

Didn't realise they had such talons on them. A full strength whack from one would do you some real damage.

Imagine copping one in the neck :?
