Well done Fella's always a good day when you can remove a few ferals from the bush. Hopefully I will be doing the same in a day or too as well.

Not the best start for me for 2017... I went back to Wombat today lol, I just don't learn. Saw nothing in there I could shoot - 6 wallabies, 1 wombat and.... a sheep!

But on a positive note, I checked my trail cam over xmas and found something on there that gave me a smile :D

Looks like a red?
Funny thing about Wombat, looks good and close to western suburbs so always tempting. But gets a lot of attention.

Always good to see something worth shooting even if it is on the camera time to find out their movements.

I'm sure you'll find plenty of bunnies soon enough. One trip doesn't tell the whole tale!

I scored a Greener GP made about 1880 I have been told.It was my first firearm since leaving the Army in 86.I worked doing the camp plumbing on a mine site and the boss had a heap of guns.Trap and skeet U/O 2 semi auto shotguns 4 shot beretta and the good old 5 shot browning.A nice .222 and a 30/06.I scored a property letter from the town publican and bought it in Geraldton on my way home.Started 20 year love affair with greening Australia

Yeah. Well that really isn't promising, is it!?!

Just drove past my pet rabbit near the front gate about 1/2 hour ago. Maybe i should get out there and knock a few for a bit of fricassee before the mozzies hit hard later next month....

Still, i don't think you've wasted your money on the Lithgow. It will be a nice rifle just to have and ping subsonics for a bit of fun seeing you seem to be out of the serious long range stuff now.

yes but I find the 22 a lot more serious skill wise at 300 plus with a bit of breeze 8-)

and the way things are going around here I think I will sell my boat and do the long range

properly this time as that last stint taught me a lot ;) .

this time I will start with a couple a single shot stiller's if they make them if not I will give the

bat a run .

The 22 will be good practice gun then!

Those stillers are nice. Why not go Barnard/Truflite combo?

this is a personal thing but for me to use a rifle 1st I have to like it and to me the barnard

is so damn ugly that it would never get in my safe let alone get out .

this is why I have never owned a savage centre fire even though they are bloody accurate

for a factory rifle , but I did come close to getting a Predator Hunter Max 1.

and it is so easy and a lot cheaper to get stuff with a rem 700 foot print .

Fair call on the affordability and availability but I quite like the simplicity of the Barnard aesthetic; just a tube attached to another tube (the barrel). And the combination with the Truflite, well, the results speak for themselves when put together right. The actions are built like a brick ******! It's my dream LR rifle: Barnard, Truflite, GRS stock, some nice euro glass and chambered in 284shehane.

Anyhoo.... This is all getting way off the topic of hunt reports, so......

Finally broke the drought. Hadn't nabbed one since October last year!

He looked like a young one in the scope, but seeing all the grey on him he's been around for a while I'd say. Shot in Vic state forest, found him while I was stalking through, not called.
