Hornady 250 Grain Monoflex 45/70 for pigs

I am curious to know if anyone has used these bullets on pigs out of a 45/70. Hornady says they are a "rubber" tipped bullet for tube magazines and I thought that they might make a nice low-recoil round but will they kill pigs? :)

I have a few fronds that use em. Will a 250gr projectile kill a pig? I think so. But now my buddies are moulding their own projectiles..

Thanks mate. It does sound heavy enough. Casting sounds like a lot of trouble though and a fair bit of money, come to think of it

Noisydad is the resident casting expert, drop him a PM on that.

But yep, there's quite a setup cost, you have to run your forge for melting, source your lead, etc. etc. it's a lot more involved than reloading out-of-the-box bullets.

Done as a hobby in itself really so only a viable option if you enjoy doing it too.

The selling point is the rubber tip for tubes like you said.

Fancy tip aside, once you're past they're just a regular solid projectile.

So the question is will 250gr of copper moving at 2,200 fps drop a bit? Oh yeah
