How many forum members have F/A licensed partners ?

Post by Die Judicii » 26 Apr 2016, 9:04 pm

In light of the recent thread featuring the three female hunters,
I'm wondering how many members have partners/spouses that are firearm licensed ? :unknown:
Mine is.

The wife didn't speak to me for several days last time she looked in the safe as she's not a fan of firearms or me spending money. The father in law on the other hand loves the Barrett M95 but taunts me with his AK47 and RPG cause he knows I can't have one. The boy will get his juniors in October 2017 and has "several" firearms in the safe already though doesn't know it yet. Been trying to persuade the Russian Princess into getting her license but no joy as yet. I live in a cul-de-sac and 2 of my neighbors shoot so finding someone to shoot with isn't an issue.

I (30yo), have a 23yo girlfriend from China who is really into joining hunting with me. I am in the process of trying to get a license and she will get one too as soon as she becomes a permanent resident. We are currently trying to find good hunting spots in the state forests and will look into finding some farms to shoot on too.

As far as I'm aware to 'qualify' for a licence you need to be a resident, not necessarily a 'permanent resident', there's no citizenship test....

Her indoors is licenced and owns a 22lr. She's not very interested but it's easier for her to have her licence than not. She can get ammo in town and grab a rifle for me while i keep and eye on the odd feral cat (for example), which she has done on a few occasions. We shoot target once in a while to keep her familiar with the rifle and safety protocols. Need to get it fitted with iron sights because she has issues with the scope.

It also says you must lock ammo in the car and keep guns in cases away from sight blah blah...

IMHO Its a case of the police interpreting again.....if the 'live' in victoria, as in your normal place of residence; you can apply, so if you live in another state or country, and are here for a visit - you cant.

I know it says permanent resident on the website, but I dont think thats strictly correct, PR really means you have a right to stay permanently, the act isnt concerned with an individuals visa status... so if the GF has a victorian address and she 'lives' here, then get her booked in.

Yep same here. Was handy as it helped having the missus licensed so she could hold the 303 while i was sorting the horse out.
She now has two Mod92 44-40's, 22, Mod 92 32-20, couple of 303's and a 12ga.

An honest Aussie shooter should always get the missers a licence..... you know for gender equality and all that ....

After all, a bloke with 15 rifles, married to a woman with 17 looks a heck of a lot 'better' than a bloke with 32...... just sayin' :unknown: ;)
