Here's a few i've been working on lately.
The one with a temporary rope handle i used to cut through a 11 month old lambs hip bone and brisket on the weekend. A quick run over the steel and she is shaving sharp still.

Others for various purposes and some just because it seemed like a good idea. Got to fit scales and baulsters in the next few weeks but have been hell busy lately, so no time for hobby knife making.

I wouldn't waste my money on a "Hunting" knife, a good ol butchers boning knife does a great job and costs around $20, I use one to skin foxes etc and it's by far the best knife I've used for skinning/boning work, I could buy 10 of em for what it costs for some of these "Hunting" knives which half the time are f***ing useless for the purpose anyway.

Exactly my point re: not needing to cost much for a knife to do the job, Bigfella. Only thing is, some like knives for the sake of the knife & that's when things get expensive!

That's me  I've got quite a few "Hunting" Knives and honestly the majority of em are useless for it, much prefer the $20 job I buy from the butchers, keeps a good edge, easy to sharpen and gets the job done no fuss at all (I mean if the butcher uses em all day long every day how bad can they be for butchering things hey. :D

ESEE knives are pretty ace. I had a Candiru that was great at skinning. Too bad I left it behind during an emergency evac from an ex-girlfriend's house.

So much tacticool crap passes for a knife these days. Chinese made steel is always going to be inferior.

I own several knives, but these are my favorites. Top is an Estwing with blood groove I bought 30 years ago. Try finding one now, and below is a much newer but old school design Sheffield Skinner made by A.Wright and Sons. Proper high carbon steels. I'm guessing the Estwing is D2 and the Sheffield is 1070 or 1090.

I avoid chinese crap where ever possible.... including knives...
Never bought coldsteel before, but did so for the Tanto as one of the young ones is into Japanese Language etc.... and Its a Japanese made - Japanese style knife so.... all good there.... picked one up for myself as well... just 'cause.

The Leatherneck I didnt need, but its kinda similar style to a Ka-bar ..(1217 fighting knife, which I'm also after). I didnt know it was Taiwanese made until after purchase, but its German D2 steel... Both are quality high carbon CroMo stock...Tanto is VG1 apparently... Not cheap knives, but they are kinda tacticool though I do prefer conventional leather sheathes, these ones lock in very 'positively'...

And how does one use these Tacticool knives for hunting? can't imagine they'd be much chop when it comes to skinning or butchering an animal. :unknown:
