Haven't been for a couple of months, am planning on trying to get out to try call up a few on Monday, weather permitting.
Just wondering if I get any whether I bother de-masking them :unknown:

Just the mask for foxes, dogs need the whole skin. I haven't been fortunate enough (or unfortunate depending on how you look at it!) to come across any wild dogs, though I would love to for that $120 bounty!

The Department's response is:-

Saw my first wild dog this weekend in the Alpine NP, weirdest thing he jumped in front of me to the side of the track and ran infront of my ute for about 500m before peeling off, i was going around 50-60km/h.
Funnily enough didnt respond to my whistles or "here boys".
I much prefer seeing them to only hearing them in the bush

Better than no bounty at all!

I agree. But the time hunters must put in to get a dog you would think it would be more $ and easier to cash in.

Can you get in strife for carrying a non deer legal calibre in one of these control areas? 223 for example.

No can't get in strife. You'd be a d*ckhead for trying to bring down a deer with a .223 or less anyway.

You will get in strife if you are caught in recognised deer habitat after dark with ANY rifle though.

Not as simple as that. Last week I was trying to whistle a fox in deer habitat with a 223 in hand. Perfectly legal, just can't shoot a deer withit.

Thanks, would never hunt deer with a 223 but been waiting for appropriate authority to get back to me about this so thought I would ask.

I assumed that if 2 people were hunting and one was carrying say a 30-06 for deer and the other a 223 or 204 for wild dogs that common sense would prevail but I want to know for sure.

Thanks
