6.5 making pizza past 700yds.

Heres a short clip of long range pest popping with the .260 Remington the first one was at 715yds (654mts) the second at 705yds (645mts). There was a variable 22kph wind blowing directly towards me which swung from east to west / west to east making it a real challenge (pain in the arse).
Not only that but a strong mirage turned the target into a shimmering blob, with the scope on 25x the rodents still looked small and yes a few misses were unavoidable.
All in all it was a great day with temps hovering around 35-37c making leaning on the car interesting....thank god for long sleeve hunting shirts in summer...I think

I'm dissapointed, Sean.

Where's the yellow beetle bug of doom?

Seriously, nice shooting as always, though

Hi John, its a 6.5/08 or .260....Im using 100gn Nosler Ballistic tips with Lapua cases, WLR (Winchester large rifle) primers and 48gns of AR 2213SC powder.
The 6.5s reachout when the hotrod .22s drop off ,the load Im using is not hot, I will get about 2800fps but its very accurate in the sako and will put 3 into .20-.30 at 100yds, its also easy on the barrel, good luck with yours.
cheers,
Sean.

Nice calibre the 6.5mm. In my case one of a few 6.5x47 Lapua Rifles and with this the specialised case with it's small primers really works well pushing 130gr VLD's at around 2,950 fps as a mild load. 123gr Scenar about 100 fps or more faster. Very accurate.

Not that I waste rounds on Rabbits all that often but at a few hundred metres or so it makes a mess of anything even if I switch to the softer jacket hunting version bullets. Have used culling Roo's and it's just magic what damage is done to a head.

I think the point was missed, it's not a dig at anyone or long range vermin control. It's a waste with this calibre / rifle for me as I have others that can perform the job a lot cheaper if required. It was a comment. A 10k competition outfit doesn't go out in the field that often. An old Sako 6BR or 22BR fits the bill a lot better. My choice.

Maybe I shouldn't have said anything about how accurate 6.5mm Calibres are...
