What's the deal with all the other gun forums wanting a paid subscription?

Yeah and they seem to be full of nutters ;) this forum is much more centered and has supporting members rather than trolls.

As a new shooter, it can be a little daunting/intimidating when you have/ask a "silly" question. But I have found this forum to be always keen to help.

Members of other forums seem to cut you off at the waist for being born without the natural talent and education of an Australian sniper that they all obviously posses.

Always good to have a read elsewhere but I am very hesitant in contributing.
Might have a little reading ahead of me with the sites listed above. Cheers

Chuck Hawks. It's got issues, but still a useful resource. Occasionally has rifle reviews that don't read like rifle advertisements. Also occasionally makes good arguments against the idea some US guys seem to have that you can't kill anything bigger than a squirrel with anything smaller than a field howitzer: http://www.chuckhawks.com/

Meateater. Steve Rinella's website/tv show/podcast. It's pretty irrelevant to aussie hunting from a practical point of view (except recipes) but I just think the guy is a great ambassador and I always liked his philosophy about animals and hunting. I wish more people thought about the wild the way he does: http://www.themeateater.com/

Anacrolix's freakin genius NSW huntable state forest map that I use all the time and never remember to bookmark so I always have to search for his post in this forum. Why the DPI website doesn't have something like this I have no idea. https://nsw-hunting.anacrolix.link/

lol i thought this post was about places to order stuff ftom sorry.
meateater is a show ilike becouse he is not just about the kill and he likes to talk to different hunting groups which is why i come here.
i do agree that many guys here in u.s think they have to have a cannon to hunt when they need practice and move down to a smaller gun they cah shoot better.
i go to a few forums but i post more here then i do the others becouse of rude posts

Haha, I know that site, or rather did know that site.
Feral scan must be useful. It just told me there was a pig in the NT. I saw it when I was up there. Thank god there is only one.

Anyone know a site like SSAA's Farmer Assist - but a free version for everyone else?

I'm not a SSAA member and looking for private land to shoot on for RHVC in NSW.

I forgot to add this guy:

https://www.youtube.com/user/ForgottenWeapons

Ian McCollum, also known as "Gun Jesus". Watch a few and you'll get it. He does get out and shoot stuff but much of what he does is take apart stuff that is noteable from a historical point of view. If you like obscure mechanical stuff he's great.

For example, 19th century four-bore (yes) rifles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDYtxxRU_cY . Just the thing for when you need to make a tunnel through an elephant.
