Sadly not - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-24/m ... wa/8738722

I think there is a lot more to the story.

Yep something definitely not right in the report.... the young men were "messing around"... what does this mean exactly I wonder.
It'll shoot the fleas off a dog's back at five hundred yards, Tannen, and it's pointed straight at your head!

.22 - Sounds like they were stuffing around and either an argument has happened or an accident from potentially inexperienced user.

Probably something as stupid as 'shoot the apple off my head'.

No idea how the original story was ever about deer hunting.

Great minds think alike. Those are the exact scenarios I also thought of - either an argument with some regrettable actions or something equally stupid like shoot this bourbon can off my head...

They were in "an area of native forest popular with deer hunters."

So yeah, actually nothing to do with deer hunting at all.

I'm thinking two blokes one trying to get it off the other and the rifle has gone off. It's my shot, no it's mine. Kinda scenario :unknown:

Good opportunity to have a jab at hunters though, right. Can't pass it up.
