Just spent the weekend hunting goats for meat with a mate near Mildura with my new 45/70. Only shot 3,I guess we couidve killed more but 3 was enough. It was a good exercise in learning what works well for me with that rifle. I discovered quickly that the addition of the scope made the rifle uncomfortably heavy and really didn't help the accuracy that greatly. Also learnt that a 405gn cast lead flat point at around 1500fps is a good meat taker, but doesn't result in a bang flop as I thought it might. Still,it worked well enough and is cheap for me to reload, and important fact due to recent events.
