I've been further down, towards Howqua. I stay on a property, so that's probably of no help, but you will probably find fallow.

And plenty of sambar.
If you get stuck there is always the Jamieson caravan park. There used to be a camping spot just south of Jamieson on the river. But that was 30 years ago.

Woods point is nice place, cold night goes well with some locally made Tear Arse Gully port.

wish we were allowed in WA state forrest to hunt, damn greenies and pig dog hunters cost us that luxury... on my way to some of my fishing spots there are tonnes of pig and deer sign.... also down some of my favorite dirt bike and 4x4 tracks.

Find somewhere flat and follow the rules- From https://www.ffm.vic.gov.au/recreational ... nd-camping

Where can I camp?

In state forests, please use designated camping areas when they are provided. Where formalised campsites are not provided, please observe the following:

Camp at least 20 metres from any stream, lake or reservoir.
Use toilets where they are provided. In areas without toilets, bury toilet waste at least 100 metres away from campsites and watercourses.
All native plants and animals are protected. Do not cut down or damage standing trees or vegetation.
Take your rubbish home.
Where possible, use a lightweight stove for cooking. If you must build a fire, please follow the fire regulations, be conservative in your use of fuel, and ensure your fire is completely out before you leave.

I was going to say Howqua too.

It's only 20 minutes from Mansfield and is a lovely spot.

Check your maps as there's a few fiddly lines drawn but the majority of it is state forest so hunting is a go.

Thanks mate. So I should be fine to camp at any of the designated areas and just walk into the forest from there?
