Sitting Waiting on ambush, what do you do in the mean time?

What do you guys do whilst sitting and waiting for game at your ambush site?

I've sometimes brought a kindle whilst waiting for sambar.

I hear them. But you are right, most of the times I spot them when the only thing I do is sit and watch and glass.

I watch and listen intently.
I will also check wind speed and direction and range some likely target areas but mostly it's just sit silently and motionless. Watch and listen to the birds, they're a great indicator of predators on the ground, including yourself so try not to bother them.
If I know where I'm going I'll range places on GoogleEarth so I have a decent idea of ranges already. If I'm going into forest I mark all the high points on the map and try to suss their lines of sight.
I love the bush anyway so I would never take a Kindle or a book or listen to music - that's the last thing I need in the bush.

Thats a good idea Oldbloke. When its windy, they can't hear you and you surely can't hear them anyway.

What you're doing is a (sometimes) needed distraction, but its still relevant and is a great way to keep things interesting bladeracer. Thanks for you input.

I also put the hood of my jacket up which allows me to turn my head a little without moving my outline, but it does detract a little from the peripherals. I generally sit in front of something to disguise my outline, so I don't usually need to see behind me.

most camo works till you move, and deer can spot you a long way off, they can see giant eyes through a bino
I know of guys who don't bother as much as me but still do ok, they smoke while waiting, don't wear a face mask/gloves, play with there phones ect
I like to catch them by surprise but have been sprung out to 300 many times
I have also been guilty of nodding off, my mates say the deer don't worry about my snoring
better to stay awake and no sudden moves

I'm not a big hunter but do go out a few times a year for various game, it's usually a mate and i spread roughly 30 metres away on different angles waiting on our intended game/whatever the target animal is, usually just sit, watch listen and adjust to the environment, but also make sure your firing position is comfortable and will allow me to take a good first shot, make sure bipods not on a stick or something unstable, pouches zipped/closed etc etc also make sure no one/nothing else is wandering into your area that needs to be accounted for have a break from the glass every now and again also, amazing how time flies, if i'm feeling a bit disruptive might also snap some photos as i hunt mostly sunrise early morning, get some mad shots

All of the above except smoke and read; watch the bird life, see what's around, how many, take a photo or two and relax and enjoy the scenery. Ahj peace and quiet !

i take a book with me on stand and stuff to drink and eat i have been on stand for 16 hours at a time most the time 4 to 5
