How much NOTICE before hunting/shooting trip?

Post by Cooper » 09 Feb 2018, 11:32 am

So apparently telling wife the day before going shooting with the boys is not enough notice?
The way I figure it this way she will only be mad at me for a day and by the time I get back all should be good? She will probably miss me or something?

Anyway I’ll let you know after the weekend!

I'm an expert at upsetting my wife
And yes, this would upset her too. But I know she'd still be VERY upset by the time I returned, she'd get angrier and angrier as each day passed.

Have a good weekend though mate

If she's home with kids, you're f***ed. Maybe not now, maybe not for a while, but it will happen when you leats expect it. Keep a sleeping bag in the boot.

If she's not looking after the kids.. You're sweet :)

I generally plan things well in advance, I tell the missus that ill be away shooting in April and because it's sometime in the future she's not angry. I then remind her the day before and tell her she can't be angry cause I told her weeks ago I'd be away and how is it my fault that she forgot. I call this the "Blame Diversion" technique :)

Tried that and no joy so I got the boy his juniors firearms training permit and his juniors pistol training permit came in the mail today. I take the boy at least once a week to the range for "practise". I call this the "Spending Quality Time" method :)

My missus doesn't care too much, if I came home from work and said to her "hey I have a great opportunity for hunting/fishing I am outta here in 30 mins" she would deal with it, but in general my rule is a weeks notice for a weekend away.

She understands how important getting wild is for me and encourages it, and there is the key, getting them to understand what it means to be a hunter and why you do it, and the best way to do that is by sharing your feelings, which most women seem to appreciate.

dont forget to make her feel important as well :drinks:
there is never a trade off or a tit for tat but she has to feel like she's not the hobby
warm her up and take care of her, it will come straight back at you

The missus knows how rarely I get to go so if a hunting night or trip comes up she's not allowed to crack it hahahah

I'm just not aloud to tell her what we shoot

A guy I know went down to the shops for groceries and ran into some mates who were heading out . He jumped in and rang his wife from a phone box several hours and hundreds of kilometres later . Didn't go over too well.
